Oh what a fantastic movie and wonderful prize, there is simply too many quotes to choose from!
ReplyDeleteBut have to settle on a classic from Scarlett - "Marriage, fun? Fiddle-dee-dee. Fun for men you mean."
Just a punchy witty line that never fails to make me smile, especially watching Clark Gable's rather dashing face light up at it too!
btw I was Ashley on the personality test!

ReplyDeleteWithout a doubt the most swoon-worthy quote in the history of cinema
'No, I don't think I will kiss you, although you need kissing, badly. That's what's wrong with you. You should be kissed and often, and by someone who knows how.
I love the quote 'With enough courage, you can do without a reputation.' And it's stayed with me. It doesn't matter what people think, be strong, brave, follow your heart, there are more important things than others opinions of you! emma.toujours@googlemail.com
ReplyDeleteMy quote from Gone With The Wind - Rhett Butler "With enough courage, you can do without reputation".
ReplyDeleteit sticks in my mind because it shows you reputation isnt always a good thing and with just a little bit of courge you can go along way.

Mine has to be a couple of lines of dialogue.
ReplyDeleteScarlett: "Another dance and my reputation will be gone forever."
Rhett Butler: "With enough courage you can do without a reputation."
What a wonderful film!

Whatever happens, I'll love you just as I do now until I die.
ReplyDeleteI love this quote! I guess it's because I feel this about someone else..
This quote always makes me smile:
ReplyDeleteBonnie Blue Butler: London Bridge? Will it be falling down?
Rhett Butler: Well, it will if you want it to, darling.
This prize is amazing. Gone With The Wind would look incredible on the big screen (I have only ever seen it on my TV!)
Fantastic quotes so far.
ReplyDeleteA quote that reveals so wonderfully the relationship between Rhett and Scarlett, i.e. that they are of the same sprit.
KATHLEEN: My dear, don't you know? That's Rhett
Butler. He's from Charleston. He has the most terrible reputation.
SCARLETT: He looks as if, as if he knows what I looked like without my shimmy.

Gone with the Wind is my favourite film of all time. My favourite exchange has always been -
ReplyDeleteScarlett: Well, you always said we had a lot in common, and...
Rhett: Yes, you're right, my dear. I'm not in love with you anymore than you are with me. Heaven help the man who ever really loves you!
Not only do I love the way these 2 characters interact with each other, but Vivien Leigh reacts so perfectly to Gable's line. She looks so deliciously coy and amused. What a film!

Only one quote!? Oh dear. It would have to be:
ReplyDeleteRhett Butler: You go into the arena alone. The lions are hungry for you.
The entire scene of Scarlett showing up in the red dress and Melanie embracing her is still my favorite scene ever.

"You should be kissed and often, and by someone who knows how."
ReplyDeleteIt's such a tender and evocative quote and it remains so timeless. Also, I think if someone ever said this to me I'd probably faint!

Rhett Butler: What a woman.
ReplyDeleteBecause she really was ...

I love Scarlett's coping mechanism in times of crisis; she uses this sentiment several times in the film and it keeps her on the straight and narrow
ReplyDelete"I can't think about that right now. If I do, I'll go crazy. I'll think about that tomorrow."
peacelover1970@gmail.com
what a great price!!
ReplyDeletethis is my favorite:
“Until you've lost your reputation, you never realize what a burden it was or what freedom really is.”
