Event Inspiration: Press Day Pampering

We believe that there is no better way to make your guests feel special than to treat them to some me-time. Journalists, bloggers and stylist are often rushed of their feet going from meeting to event to interview without a minute to spare to reapply their lipstick. Our beautifying services could be just what you need to impress the press and make a a lasting impression on these ladies so that your brand and it's product stick out from the crowd of things they are bombarded with daily.

Our pretty professionals can provide you expert hair, make-up, nails and massage to make sure your guest's are pampered and preened to perfection. It's the perfect solution for press days and networking events alike.

Here are just two examples of recent press events we have worked on in 2013

George at Asda Blogger's Picnic Press Event:

Bloggers were invited down to a showroom in the heart of Carnaby Street to preview George's  new summer collections. Their collection was showcased within a picnic theme which was perfect for the lovely sunny day they had chosen for this event. (lucky them!) They supplied an amazing array of refreshments, and soft seating in the form of  beanbags for the guest's to relax on, as well as having us Powderpuff Girls on hand to pamper their guest's to perfection.

"We were also treated to hair styling, manicures and makeovers by the Powderpuff Girls, I had my hair pin-curled. I'm absolutely rubbish with anything beauty or hair related, so it was nice to be pampered properly for once."  Leigh Travers of http://www.foxandfeatherblog.com

Jam PR host an event for Transform’s Feel Good Campaign:

Us gals were part of the pampering team that were on hand to make people 'feel good' throughout the day at this event for Transform, the aim of the event was to emphasise the reasons for cosmetic surgery, the emotional impact and the confidence it brings.

Jam PR wanted their guests to leave feeling empowered, positive and confident so we were on hand to offer pampering services such as nails, hair and massage. As well as this guest's were treated to tasty treats and refreshments in serene surroundings.

Girls and boys alike enjoyed their pamper and everyone left the event with a smile on their face. Job done girls!

Get the VAMP look with our BYZANTIUM make-up tutorial

Stylish vampire film BYZANTIUM, starring Gemma Arterton and Saoirse Ronan is due to hit our screens on the 31st of May and us gals just can't wait! Not only do we love British beauty Gemma Arterton we love a bit of dark glamour and this movie certainly has that!

To celebrate the release we have opened up our beauty black books to reveal our top tips on how to wear the VAMP look. This look is great for evening glamour all year round and well worth following for your next night out ...

GET THE VAMP LOOK - make-up tutorial:

  1. Start with a blank canvas, perfectly primed and ready for your foundation. Apply with brush, sponge or simply fingers! But make sure you blend well and have no streaks or edges; a wedge sponge is good for this. But don’t forget when doing smokey eyes you may want to do this after step 8. Prime the eyes and cover with a light eye concealer, some products do both these jobs in one. Lightly powder all over.
  2. Take your eyeshadow brush and coat it with your charcoal eyeshadow, gently flick off any excess, and starting sparingly and in very small circular movements start at the outer edge of the lid and socket and gradually blend towards the inner corner.

3. Repeat on the other side.
4. You can repeat step 2 until you get the required density. Much better to build up gradually. And use your blending brush to make sure you don’t have any hard edges.

5. With a more defining brush or sponge applicator dip in the eyeshadow, tap off the excess and starting at the outer corner of the lower lid gently take the colour along the lower lashes getting narrower towards the centre and trailing off just after the centre.

6. Eyebrows should be quite thin and dark, long and angled down, you can just define them well with a small angled brush and a complimentary eyeshadow or a matte pencil.

7.  Apply lashings of mascara to top and bottom eyelashes.

8. Very subtle dusting of a peachy blusher to the apples of the cheeks (find these by smiling!)

9. Last but not least! Apply a bright or berry red to fully lined lips to complete your vamp look. A vamp is never without her perfect pout!

Return to the Roaring 20's

With the return of Downton Abbey and the anticipation building for the release of the Great Gatsby we are in 1920's heaven. We like to call this the decade of decadence, when partying and dancing was a huge part of life and fantastic frocks, big doll eyes and beautiful barnets were a plenty!

Carey Mulligan: On the set of The Great Gatsby set in 1922.

The Crawley Sisters from Downton Abbey still very much is the Edwardian era
or is that about to change?

Hair was short and chic and make up was smokey and sultry.
Style icons were bold and beautiful and still inspire the world today...

Clara Bow

Louise Brooks

Josephine Baker

It's a look that we get asked about often so this is what to ask for at The Powder Room
to become a fabulous flapper girl..

How to get the look

Make up: Was almost doll like. It was all about big highlighted eyes and tiny rose bud lips.
Eyes should be dark, smoky and kohl-rimmed. Eyebrows were long and dark. Lips should be rich deep berry red and this should all be set against a perfect porcelain complexion.

Choose The Marlene from our fabulous lookbook but go for deep red on the lips.
In Jiffy Make up £20

Hair: At the beginning of the 20's it was all about elegant, soft waved up dos. If you have long hair but you want to achieve an authentic look you can opt for The Veronique (with a twist) from our fabulous lookbook.

Your hair will be set into glorious soft waves and then swept up into a gorgeous little chignon, set at the one side of your head to create the perfect Downton Abbey inspired look.

If you hair is shorter then Clara is you gal. Go for frivolous doll like tight curls created with hot sticks.

Both are great options if you are not willing to commit to the short sharp bob look which was so iconic during this era.

Speedy Hair do £25

Oh la la she wears it well: We love Marion Cotillard who captures the essence of this look with beautifully smouldering, very 1920's smokey eye make up & tight curly bob.

Tune in to ITV1 on 16 September at 21:00 for the new series of Downton Abbey.

Happy Flapping
